U.S. scientists discoveres a second DNA code

U.S. scientists have discovered a second DNA code and the finding has the scientific community buzzing. As laid out by a report from AFP via Yahoo! News on Thursday, the second DNA code suggests that the body speaks two different languages and the discovery could have important implications regarding the diagnosis of certain diseases. This second DNA code was recently published in the U.S. journal Science and a research team headed by Dr. John Stamatoyannopoulos, a University of Washington associate professor of genome sciences and of medicine, is responsible for the ground-breaking discovery. Regarding the second DNA code, Stamatoyannopoulos gave the following statement: “For over 40 years we have assumed that DNA changes affecting the genetic code solely impact how proteins are made. Now we know that this basic assumption about reading the human genome missed half of the picture. These new findings highlight that DNA is an incredibly powerful information storage...

Physicists Admit Universe Might Be About To Collapse

It could happen tomorrow, it could happen in a billion years, but whenever it is, calculations by physicists at the University of Southern Denmark indicate that the risk of the Universe collapsing is even greater than previously thought. The doomsday scenario that's been refined by the Danish researchers is known as "The Big Slurp." The Big Slurp would occur when there is a radical shift in the forces that govern the Universe. This violent process is called a phase transition and is very similar to what happens when, for example, water turns to steam. Pivotal to the Big Slurp scenario is the Higgs Boson, the particle which is believed to play a role in giving mass to elementary particles. Proponents of the Big Slurp theory say that a phase transition in the Universe could happen if a quantum fluctuation bubble from an alternate Universe appeared in ours. Specifically, the Big Slurp would be triggered by the Higgs-field associated with the Higgs-particle in the bubble diff...

Fifa cancels Photoshoot with Ribery

A rumour is doing the rounds that FIFA cancelled a secret photoshoot with Bayern Munich’s Franck Ribery because Cristiano Ronaldo will win the Balon d’Or. While questions can be asked over the accuracy of the reports, the story comes days after FIFA announced that the voting for the Ballon d’Or had been extended until November 29. That decision was made just at the same time as Cristiano Ronaldo was hitting a hat-trick in Stockholm to fire Portugal to the World Cup, and widespread opinion is that FIFA’s decision to extend the vote for the World Player of the Year was designed to boost the Real Madrid’s forward’s chances of winning the top prize. Ronaldo’s new pole-position in the Balon d’Or stakes appears to have been at the expense of Franck Ribery, as many had believed the Bayern Munich forward would win the prize after his amazing performances in the Bavarians triple winning season. 28/11/2013
