Fifa cancels Photoshoot with Ribery
A
rumour is doing the rounds that FIFA cancelled a secret photoshoot with
Bayern Munich’s Franck Ribery because Cristiano Ronaldo will win the
Balon d’Or.
While questions can be asked over the accuracy of the reports, the story comes days after FIFA announced that the voting for the Ballon d’Or had been extended until November 29.
That decision was made just at the same time as Cristiano Ronaldo was hitting a hat-trick in Stockholm to fire Portugal to the World Cup, and widespread opinion is that FIFA’s decision to extend the vote for the World Player of the Year was designed to boost the Real Madrid’s forward’s chances of winning the top prize.
Ronaldo’s new pole-position in the Balon d’Or stakes appears to have been at the expense of Franck Ribery, as many had believed the Bayern Munich forward would win the prize after his amazing performances in the Bavarians triple winning season.
